I've been going here for 30 years, with visitors for the ice cream and occasional chip buttie but when I went for lunch last week - we wanted real food close to home - we found it had been made over, the menu expanded and the place half-full (on a wet Friday lunchtime off the beaten track) with people eating steaks, one diner had a whole crab, another a range of seafood, etc. There was a group of four middle-aged people eating enormous quantities of seafood and getting their way through bottles of wine. This is a real little restuarant now with an open kitchen. It's still tiny and quirky, but the food was excellent (home made gnocchi with strips of fillet steak and a creamy sauce made my lads very happy; mixed seafood did the job for me). The waiter was friendly, though he brought a children's menu for Harry, aged two weeks, so I guess he's not himself a father! The prices were reasonable - the whole crab with spaghetti was ten pounds I think. It still has a bit of a 'cafe' atmosphere but that suits us - there are cloths on the tables now which upgrades it a bit. The chef is clearly keen on fresh ingredients "
